First
Dutch WAB
Tournament
500 BC - 500 AD Tournament
(8th march 2008)
DUCOSIM
The largest Dutch gaming group, DUCOSIM, organised a games day in Utrecht on the 8th
of March 2008. (Centre of the Netherlands.). Most of the games were board games, role-playing games,
collectable games and wargames. There were around 500 people at the large
convention centre. During that day 8 enthusiastic WAB players entered in a
Warhammer Ancients Battles tournament.
(The Celtic chariots charge!)
The WAB
tournament
For WAB there were 6 tables (120 x 240 cm) for 12 players. Unfortunatly some
players could not make it. But we had a very nice display at the centre of the
hall with 8 very nicely painted armies and 4 large tables with very nice scenery
including an Egyptian monument, a Celtic village and a Roman village.
We played 2 games that day, each game lasting for 3
hours and a break of an hour in between. This was more than enough for one day.
We wanted the tournament to be an enjoyable day without the pressure of time and
the to much competition.
Many visitors at the jaarbeurs enjoyed watching our miniatures and listened with
awe to our stories about how the armies functioned in history and on the gaming
table.
The entry at the convention centre was 5 Euro. We started at 10:00 and ended at 17:00.
The
Supplements allowed
The armies that entered had to be from the classical
period of 500 BC up until 500 AD. This ment that the following WAB
supplements were allowed:
-Chariot Wars -Armies of
Antiquity (Persian, Greek, Alexander, Indian,
Republican, Carthage, Late roman, Cataphracts, Nomad and Early
Byzantine) -Alexander the Great -Spartacus -Fall of
the West -Hannibal and the Punic Wars -Art of War |
(Cataphracts on the move!)
The
armies that entered
We played with 2000pts armies. Every player had
brought their best painted armies. The eight players played with the following
armies:
-Republican Romans (HatPW) -Pyrrhus of Epirus in Italy
(AoA successors / forthcoming successor book) -Early Celts
(HatPW) -Spartans (AoA) -Early Imperial Romans
(Rulebook) -Seleucids (AoA successors / forthcoming successor book)
-Byzantine Romans (AoA) -Pontics (AoA successors / forthcoming successor book) |

Prijsuitreiking

Mocht
het te ingewikkeld worden, beslist de scheidsrechter. In onderling overleg mogen jullie van bovenstaande regels afwijken. Vul wel
s.v.p. de victory points goed in. Gebruik de Errata van Warhammer Historical die op hun internet site staan.

The
Result
Who says that war is strictly for men? The best general
this day was Petra and her Byzantine
army. She totally massacred her opponents and that resulted in the prize for the
best general of the day.
The best painted army was the Early Imperial Romans army of Peter. The most historical armies were those of Roger (Spartans) and Richard
(Pyrrhus). The most sympathetic player was Fred and his Pontic army.
We all enjoyed the gamesday and we will certainly
do this again because of it's relaxed atmosphere, nice opponents and great
battles!
Many thanks to the organiser Jos Dijkman.
